Saint John, NB - Many Saint John residents awoke this morning to an interesting new campaign tactic: sidewalk chalk. The Ward 3 City Council Candidate Craig Allen Campaign Team continued spreading the word about his sustainable campaign here in the city overnight by etching his name & website on city sidewalks with children's chalk.
In a different direction from his opponents, Allen's campaign has featured no printed signs or brochures, but instead he has been embracing eco-friendly tactics like the chalk & passing out apples to drive attention to his campaign.
"I wanted to differentiate myself from the clutter of printed signs & brochures," said Mr. Allen. "The apples have been very well received and we are hopeful that people will take note of the sidewalk campaign. At least before it rains anyways," Allen chuckled, "We covered alot of ground last night".
Mr. Allen is also looking at some other "signless" ideas to get his message out in the coming days. "We are loving every minute of this campaign and are happy to show people that there are options beyond the traditional approach. I'm hopeful people will realize that will reflect my time on council."
